Casa Manini- Home for the italians
Casa Manini, a new Italian bistro among the busing area for bbq seafood and roti prata. Taking over the space of “Two Tall Trees” previously, many may find this place familiar. Less than a month since opening, we decided to give this place a try out as one of my friend was working there.
The whole environment was cozy and I had a deep impression of a pretty painted wall of houses at a corner of the restaurant. That afternoon was quiet, we almost had the whole place to ourselves together with 2 other tables. Although it’s a place for food and not entertainment, but I expected more smiles and friendly approach from the staff.
We ordered The “No Brainer” Lunch Set which cost $20.00 per pax for an appetizer and a main OR $25.00 with an additional choice of dessert apart from those mentioned above.
Choose between Baby spinach with Tuna, cherry tomato, corn and mandarin oranges OR Soup of the day for appetizers. Mains they have Spaghetti with garlic, virgin olive oil and Tiger Prawns OR Breaded Chicken breast with Mash Potato and Mixed Vegetable OR Classic Fresh Lasagna.
We waited quite long for the first dish to be served and the salad we had, the tuna had a bad fishy smell and taste. Glad that the management agreed to change for us after we feedback. See the difference between the two?
I know Italians love to have their spaghetti al dente but these were way too hard for me. Overall tasted decent, buttery but lacked a little flavour and white wine impact which I expected to have.
Breaded chicken breast was the best take here. Meat was quite tender when we had it although breast usually drys up easily after deep frying. Batter was a tad salty but acceptable. The mixed vegetable on the side were so good.
If you’re a coffee lover like us, then this isn’t the coffee place for you. Coffee here was by illy’s so don’t expect too much from it. The cuppucino they served had only 1/4 cup of foam which was so wrong. Somehow I felt proper training needed for the simplest cup of coffee otherwise a good coffee machine will be put to waste. We did not select any dessert for our lunch so couldn’t comment.
Definitely there’s hits and misses for this place because they were very new but I thought fine-tuning needed in order to survive in this competitive area. Hope that they could be humble and take in some of our opinions since they asked for our honest feedback after our meal. Heard that head chef wasn’t around when we visited so things may or may not be the same if you intend to visit but hopefully it will be better than ours. I may visit again to try out the culinary skills of the head chef. Till next time...
I also saw an article on papers about Casa Manini giving back to the society by planning to help pregnant teens with cooking classes and may also organize art workshop for kids. Hope Casa Manini start these plans soon.
